The US Department of Defense's primary AI targeting program, originally developed with Google (Project Maven) before Google employee protests caused Google to withdraw. Palantir subsequently became the primary contractor. The Maven Smart System uses machine learning to analyse drone footage and other sensor data to identify and classify targets. It represents the operational deployment of AI in lethal military decision-making.
