If you load this page and the "current as of" date above is more than thirty days stale, or the page is missing, or any line item has been removed, draw the obvious inference. We will not lie. We will not edit a prior statement to make it false. We will rather take the page down, or fail to update it, than publish a canary we know to be inaccurate.
The failure mode is silence. Silence is not a bug; it is the signal.
Each statement is signed with the Goblin House operator key. The fingerprint published at /canary/key is the only authoritative one — do not trust a key fetched from any third-party keyserver without comparing the fingerprint to the one served from this domain over TLS.
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 Goblin House Warrant Canary Issued: 2026-05-26 Operator: Goblin House (goblinhouse.net) Cycle: 30 days Next: on or before 2026-06-25 The seven negations enumerated above hold as of the issuance date. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- [ signature pending — operator key generation in progress ] -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
A statement that has not been re-issued within the cycle window should be treated as expired. Browser and edge caches may serve a stale copy; the canonical copy is at https://www.goblinhouse.net/canary with cache-control headers that prevent extended re-use.
Once an attacker has compelled silence at the origin, they will try to suppress it everywhere. To raise the cost of a quiet edit, each issuance will be cross-posted to independent infrastructure we do not fully control:
<link rel="me">.web.archive.org/web/*/goblinhouse.net/canary.If the version on this domain disagrees with the mirrors, trust whichever set is newer, signed by the same key, and reachable. If all four diverge, trust nothing and assume capture.
We would fight. Under Reno v. ACLU, 521 U.S. 844 (1997), the First Amendment is at its highest point on the open internet, and platform speech — including the speech embedded in a refusal to speak — receives the strongest protection the courts give. The right to not publish a statement we have been compelled to make includes the right to stop publishing this one.
We do not, however, expect to win every fight. Under Smith v. Maryland, 442 U.S. 735 (1979), much of the connection metadata our hosting and CDN providers collect is doctrinally outside the Fourth Amendment, and a compelled-production order against an upstream provider may not even reach us before it executes. That is why this page exists. If we lose, the page goes stale, and you read the silence.
Operator identity is held pseudonymously by design. The platform's chain-of-custody system — SHA-256 hashing of every source — is deliberately built so that the integrity of any one finding can be verified without access to any non-public operator state. There is, as a matter of architecture, very little for a subpoena to compel us to surrender about a reader or a tipster. We intend to keep it that way.
