What is a cascade?

  • The event is a dated act with traceable outward effect (legislation, EO, ruling, vote, indictment, regulation, presidential post).
  • Beneficiaries are entities surfaced via documented mechanisms — direct ownership, equity, contracts, donor relationships, regulatory relief, market correlation, or competitor-of.
  • Targets are entities the event was framed against (sanctioned, indicted, criticized, designated).
  • The cascade view (/cascade/:slug) buckets every money flow, market move, and biographical event on these entities into 1d / 7d / 30d / 90d / 365d waves after the event date.

Cascades document correlation, not causation. A donation 3 weeks after an executive order is a temporal pattern worth investigating — it is not a determination that the donation was made BECAUSE OF the order. Always read the linked primary sources before drawing conclusions.
