What Malliotakis says on the floor

26 passages in the Congressional Record, from the chamber's own transcript. Where a passage names a measure and the member voted on it within 45 days, the words and the vote sit together.

Most recent

  • Mr. Speaker, I rise today in strong support of my legislation, H.R. 9499, the Protecting Taxpayers from Ghost Preparers Act. This bill has received bipartisan support, and it passed unanimously out of our Ways and Means Committee. Every year, millions of Americans turn to tax professionals for help navigating ou…
  • Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor Sergeant Michael Sulsona--a decorated United States marine, gifted playwright, and beloved advocate for his fellow Staten Island veterans--who passed away sadly last week. Some people serve their country for a chapter of their lives. Mike Sulsona served his country for an entire …
  • 2026-09-14 REMEMBERING FATHER VINCENT ROBERT CAPODANNO ↗ Defense & aerospaceFirearms
Mr. Speaker, I rise today to tell a story of one of Staten Island's most extraordinary sons, Father Vincent Robert Capodanno, who 59 years ago last week gave his life in Vietnam while serving as Navy chaplain. His Medal of Honor citation tells us what he did in a moment of unimaginable danger. But to understand Fa…
  • Mr. Speaker, first, let's be clear that socialism is communism light. Socialism is the first step to communism. If anybody doubts what I am saying, just listen to Vladimir Lenin, the first leader of the Soviet Union, who proclaimed the goal of socialism is communism. It begins with promises of free programs, gover…
  • Mr. Chair, as co-chair of the Congressional Animal Protection Caucus, I rise in support of my amendments that are included in this en bloc. My amendments build on the progress that Congress has already made to modernize Federal research practices, reduce unnecessary animal suffering, and ensure taxpayer dollars ar…
  • Mr. Speaker, I want to clarify some points and answer some of the questions of my colleague. This is like the good old times in the New York State Assembly. Mr. Morelle and I had fun debating there, as well. First of all, let me say that this bill is actually site-specific. It does include the quadrants of the sit…
  • Mr. Speaker, I thank Chairman Steil for helping us advance this bill to the floor. He knows very well the role that his State of Wisconsin played in being the first to ratify the 19th Amendment. We are here today because we are voting on a very simple bill. It is a bill to transfer land on The National Mall for th…
  • Mr. Speaker, perhaps the party that is opposing a women's history museum on The National Mall because they want to have transgender exhibits, maybe they are the ones who are trans-obsessed. That is the reality. This bill does nothing other than simply make clear that it is biological women who are in a women's mus…

What Malliotakis trades

No STOCK Act transaction reports on file for this member (House filings only so far).

How this is assembled

  • Roll calls come from the Senate's LIS XML (senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_votes) and the House Clerk's EVS XML (clerk.house.gov/evs), fetched nightly and never edited.
  • The party line on a roll call is the majority among that party's yea and nay votes. Party unity is the share of this member's yea/nay votes that matched it; a break is a vote that did not. Votes of “present” and absences count toward attendance only.
  • Members are identified by Biographical Directory (bioguide) id; senators' LIS ids are mapped through the unitedstates/congress-legislators roster.
  • Floor speeches come from the Congressional Record (govinfo), split at the speaker lines the Record prints and matched to the member by surname, chamber and state; a passage that names a measure the member later voted on is paired with that vote. Trades are the member's own STOCK Act periodic transaction reports — House filings parsed from the Clerk's PDFs, Senate filings from the Senate's electronic disclosure system. A trade is flagged when its company's sector is one a committee the member sits on oversees, when the member cast a yea or nay on a measure in that sector within thirty days of the trade, or when PACs in that sector gave the member $10,000 or more in a cycle. Sectors for companies come from the SEC's company list and SIC codes; measures' policy areas from the Library of Congress via govinfo.
  • Funding is the member's principal campaign committee as filed with the FEC: receipt totals from the committee's summary, every contribution from another political committee (Form 3, line 11C), and the FEC's own roll-up of individual money by employer. Sectors are assigned by a fixed, published list of name patterns, and the rule that fired is stored with each row.

A break with the party is a fact of the record, not a verdict. Procedural votes, amendments and motions to recommit are all in here; what a given break means is a question for the measure it was on, which is one click away.
