What Sheehy says on the floor

9 passages in the Congressional Record, from the chamber's own transcript. Where a passage names a measure and the member voted on it within 45 days, the words and the vote sit together.

  • 2026-08-06 TRIBUTE TO WILDLAND AND AERIAL FIREFIGHTERS ↗ Transportation & auto
Mr. President, as our nation reaches the height of another fire season, it is my honor to pay tribute to our wildland and aerial firefighters. As we gather in the Senate today, wildland fire crews are working long days in difficult conditions across the country to protect resources, property, and their fellow Amer…
  • Mr. President, yesterday, we saw the President of the United States and many others at Dover Air Force Base presiding over a ceremony that is very sacred to those of us who served, and that is a dignified return of remains from the war zone. And that process happens beginning in the war zone, through Dover, to the h…
  • Mr. President, as we look back on National Law Enforcement Appreciation Month, it is my honor to pay tribute to the memory of nearly 150 peace officers who have given their lives in the line of duty in service to Montana since 1878. These officers put on the badge each morning with service, sacrifice, and duty at …
  • Mr. President, we saw last weekend a terrible event and, yet again, a product which is of a self-governing society, which is sometimes--we get mad at each other, and sometimes that anger expresses itself at our elected leaders in tragic ways--in a third assassination attempt against our President at a venue that we …
  • 2026-04-21 RECESS ↗
Mr. President, I ask unanimous consent that the scheduled recess begin immediately. There being no objection, the Senate, at 12:01 p.m., recessed until 2:15 p.m. and reassembled when called to order by the Presiding Officer (Mrs. Britt). ____________________…
  • 2026-04-21 AUTHORITY FOR COMMITTEES TO MEET ↗ Finance & bankingReal estate & construction
Mr. President, I have seven requests for committees to meet during today's session of the Senate. They have the approval of the Majority and Minority Leaders. Pursuant to rule XXVI, paragraph 5(a), of the Standing Rules of the Senate, the following committees are authorized to meet during today's session of the Se…
  • 2025-12-10 Unanimous Consent Request--H.R. 260 (Executive Session) ↗ Finance & bankingReal estate & constructionCrypto & fintechOil, gas & mining
I want to thank Senator Risch for helping to lead this legislation in the Senate. Most Americans probably find it somewhat surprising, as they struggle with affordability, as they are struggling to fill their gas tank or pay their rent or afford their mortgage, that many of their tax dollars--in fact, upward of $1…
  • Reserving the right to object, my colleague Senator Duckworth is a brave veteran of our Nation's War on Terror, and Senator Blumenthal as well served, as did many of us. And I don't think there is any disagreement that we want the absolute best for our veterans-- combat or otherwise--and we will always do everything …

What Sheehy trades

5 reported securities transactions from 2025-06-16 to 2025-11-04, at least $553,005 moved (the sum of each report's lower bound). Sectors traded: —.

0
in sectors their committees oversee
0
within 30 days of a vote in that sector
0
in sectors whose PACs fund them

None of the trades on file overlap a committee seat, a sector vote, or a funding sector.

A listed trade is an overlap in the record, not a finding. The full filing index is on the STOCK Act desk.

How this is assembled

  • Roll calls come from the Senate's LIS XML (senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_votes) and the House Clerk's EVS XML (clerk.house.gov/evs), fetched nightly and never edited.
  • The party line on a roll call is the majority among that party's yea and nay votes. Party unity is the share of this member's yea/nay votes that matched it; a break is a vote that did not. Votes of “present” and absences count toward attendance only.
  • Members are identified by Biographical Directory (bioguide) id; senators' LIS ids are mapped through the unitedstates/congress-legislators roster.
  • Floor speeches come from the Congressional Record (govinfo), split at the speaker lines the Record prints and matched to the member by surname, chamber and state; a passage that names a measure the member later voted on is paired with that vote. Trades are the member's own STOCK Act periodic transaction reports — House filings parsed from the Clerk's PDFs, Senate filings from the Senate's electronic disclosure system. A trade is flagged when its company's sector is one a committee the member sits on oversees, when the member cast a yea or nay on a measure in that sector within thirty days of the trade, or when PACs in that sector gave the member $10,000 or more in a cycle. Sectors for companies come from the SEC's company list and SIC codes; measures' policy areas from the Library of Congress via govinfo.
  • Funding is the member's principal campaign committee as filed with the FEC: receipt totals from the committee's summary, every contribution from another political committee (Form 3, line 11C), and the FEC's own roll-up of individual money by employer. Sectors are assigned by a fixed, published list of name patterns, and the rule that fired is stored with each row.

A break with the party is a fact of the record, not a verdict. Procedural votes, amendments and motions to recommit are all in here; what a given break means is a question for the measure it was on, which is one click away.
